The MBA Board has approved moving ahead to prepare the Great Commission Center for use. The work to renovate the Center will be done in phases:
Phase 1: Educational Building, Gym & Commons Area
Phase 2: Sanctuary Building
The sale of the former MBA Building at 328 West Carson Boulevard provides the funding needed to complete this work. We closed on the sale of the property on West Carson on April 8, 2016.
The work is underway now, and as it progresses, we will be sharing updates with the churches on a regular basis. If you have questions about any aspect of this effort, please let us know.
Phase 1: Educational Building & Gym
The most significant work in this phase will be to renovate the second floor of the educational building as the new MBA Offices, and adding an elevator at the bridge between the two buildings for better access. The Administrative Team and Board have approved a contractor to manage the work on Phase 1, Landrum Construction of Matthews (Evan Council). The move to the new offices will happen the first week of May, with the new offices opening that week.
Common Area (at front of Education Building facing The Plaza)
This phase will include exterior work that will create a gathering place for the neighborhood, and a place where we can connect with neighbors for ministry. Some of the work for this area will be done during the Spring of 2017.
Phase 2: Sanctuary Building
While the sanctuary itself is in good condition, the heating and air conditioning systems must be replaced in this building. This, along with renovations to the restrooms on the first floor will be some of the more significant work in this phase. Our Administrative Team and the MBA Board are working on this phase now.
We are grateful to God for blessing at every step through the process of planning and preparing for the new Great Commission Center. It has been amazing to see His favor at work. Join us in praying that this new location, and this multi-purpose resource of a facility will help us see the Great Commission fulfilled here on the Metrolina mission field.
