Red Box Prison Ministry
A shoe box full of toiletries may seem like a little thing, but for many incarcerated women it is the only Christmas gift they will receive. Every year, Woman’s Missionary Union of North Carolina (WMU NC) works to prepare approximately 2,000 red boxes for these women. A labor of love, it requires the help of Baptist Associations, Churches and Individuals throughout the state. WMU NC has been sending these boxes for 40 years. The process is handled through Margaret’s contact with the NC Baptist Associational WMU leadership who contacts the churches in her area and they collect a particular item for the red boxes.
This year, we are collecting chewing gum (5-7 stick packs). Please bring your church’s collection to the Great Commission Center by Thursday, October 26th.
For more information about this Red Box Prison Ministry, visit the WMU NC Red Box Ministry page.
Persons or groups interested in helping with red boxes for next year can contact Margaret Harding by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact WMU N.C. at (866) 210-8602 (toll free) or (919) 882-2344, or visit http://www.wmunc.org. Locate “Ministries” on the Home page menu, then scroll down to “Partnerships & Missions Connections”.
